Oscillometric blood pressure measurements: A signal analysis

چکیده
In this paper, the oscillometric waveform measured by automatic non-invasive blood pressure meters (NIBP) is analyzed by transforming the data from the time domain to the frequency domain. The signal’s spectrum of the oscillometric waveform is in current literature badly understood or explored. The only known link between the oscillometric waveform and the blood pressure is the maximum of the oscillometry’s envelope equalling the mean arterial pressure (MAP). This link is established under the assumption that the oscillometry is an AMsignal. Unfortunately, computing the MAP is difficult in practice due to the non-sinusoidal nature of the actual measured signals. In this paper, we construct the best AM-signal approximation of the oscillometry and explore its use to compute the MAP.

Monitoring Personalized Trait Using Oscillometric Arterial Blood Pressure Measurements
The blood pressure patterns obtained from a linearly or stepwise deflating cuff exhibit personalized traits, such as fairly uniform peak patterns and regular beat geometry; it can support the diagnosis and monitoring of hypertensive patients with reduced sensitivity to fluctuations in Blood Pressure BP over time. Monitoring of personalized trait in Oscillometric Arterial Blood Pressure Measurem...

Comparison of tacho-oscillographic and oscillometric methods for human blood pressure measurement with cuff occlusion in the same device at the same time is described. For this purpose the measurement system and software for signal processing that realize these methods in the same device was developed. Experiment shows that oscillometric method with photoplethysmographic (PPG) sensors does not ...
متن کاملImpact of atrial fibrillation on the accuracy of oscillometric blood pressure monitoring.
The introduction of automated oscillometric blood pressure monitors was the basis for today's widespread use of blood pressure self-measurement. However, in atrial fibrillation, there is a controversial debate on the use of oscillometry because there is a high variability of heart rate and stroke volume. To date, the accuracy of oscillometric blood pressure monitoring in atrial fibrillation has...
متن کاملRapid oscillometric blood pressure measurement compared to conventional oscillometric measurement.
BACKGROUND There have been few reports studying the necessary interval between blood pressure measurements, after the initial rest period. METHODS Blood pressure was measured in 50 patients using the conventional oscillometric technique (COT) and the rapid oscillometric technique (ROT). RESULTS The difference between COT and ROT was -1.1 / -0.1 mmHg, which was not significantly different (p...

Non-invasive measurement of the human blood pressure remains, although the commercial availability of such monitors, an active research topic. This is due to the disadvantage that the blood pressure is computed instead of directly measured. To compute the systolic and diastolic blood pressures from the oscillometry, the envelope of the oscillometric waveform is used to retrieve the systolic and...
